Tube Ice
Fact
“…Compared with ordinary ice cubes, tube ice is more pure and hygienic; the melting speed is 3 times higher than ordinary ice cubes…”
Tube Ice
Rbm Ice Company is a trailblazer in the ice manufacturing space in the nation. We bring to you Tube Ice, which has several advantages over different types of edible ice. Tube Ice is cylindrical in shape with a hole in the middle, just as its name suggest, with the typical outside diameters and lengths ranging between 25 mm to 35mm respectively.
Why Tube Ice?
Low power consumption
Low space to production ratio
Fully automatic working cycle
Minimum moving parts & long service life
The hole in the center provides maximum surface area per unit volume of ice resulting in highly efficient heat transfer, making this type of ice very effective in applications such as quick chilling of water or beverages, concrete cooling and controlling exothermic reactions in a chemical reactor.
Its cylindrical surface also ensures that ice pieces do not fuse together into big chunks, making it readily available for consumption. This property makes it ideal for applications where purity of ice is an important criterion like human consumption.
The ice formed using this process has higher purity rate than the purity of input water fed to the ice machine.
Tube ice is quite versatile, as it can be crushed into granules, compressed into blocks, shaved into snow ice or simply used in its original form.
Tube Ice Production Process
A tube ice machine has multiple stainless-steel tubes arranged in a pattern inside a vertical shell.
Freon, a refrigerant is circulated throughout the inter-space between the inner surface of the shell and outer surface of the tubes.
A continuous stream of our purified portable water is pumped through the center of the tubes. Water freezes layer by layer, to form a tube-like structure over an estimated 18 to 20 minutes cycle.
Once the tubes are fully formed, a defrost cycle is activated for about 2 to 3 minutes. This causes the ice tubes to detach from the steel surface and drop down into a cutter mechanism housed in the bottom section of the shell structure.
A spinning wheel underneath the cutter delivers pieces of tube ice which is then deposited into the automatic bagging machine, and the bagging process begins.
